[Sometime today in Celadon Department Store...

Going into the toy section with his Klefki was, while not the worst, probably among the Top 10 bad decisions Atsuro Kihara have ever made in his life. Maybe the Top 15, at most.

So anyway, he's looking into the toys area because December is next month, which means Christmas! While it's early for Christmas shopping, Atsuro does like looking at toys. Some things are the same, or familiar but very much Pokemon-fied and others he didn't know was a thing. Plus, some of his Pokemon like the toys. It's a nice way to destress from shopping for other things in the store.

While he's distracted, his Klefki spy a shelf full of toy keys and floated over towards it. He started looking through them eagerly until...he accidentally made things fall from this shelf during his rummaging. Oops.]

Eh? [That caught Atsuro's attention easily, and he turned around to see...his Klefki continuing to search through the pile of toys, boxed or not, on the ground.] What the--Mutex!?

[A while after that, the PokeGear's screen shows a Klefki looking rather pleased with himself and jingles his new keys so happily.]

...Guys, just keep a close eye on your Klefki while you're out shopping, or else you'll have to deal and possibly pay for the damages. [All of these keys come from different toys why.] Otherwise, you're basically stuck with them like this.

And please tell me yours have... [Not-toy keys? Real keys?] ...other type of keys beside these ones they get attached to.

[He feels like he jinxed himself with this back in September during a discussion.]

[Atsuro pause and looks at Mutex.]

But right, being careful of where I take Mutex to next time, got it... Toy keys was still a little weird.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. If a pokemon can be a chandelier, it can be a pair of keys as well...

...unless they sell keys at the grocery store. Or food...shaped like keys.

Which sounds pretty stupid, everything here is stupid, so that could probably be a thing. Hell, it probably is a thing. Keybread or something.

Yeah. I would personally pick different types, but if he's happy, that's what counts.

Luckily, indeed. On the other hand, maybe the rest of society will pick up on using electronic locks.

...Of course, that means Porygons and Rotoms can just jump inside.

Keybread sounds like something people makes for the novelty of it. Or as fun food for the kids to eat in a party.

So grocery shopping is probably a safer bet.

I dunno, having that as your intro might make the rest of your stay not as...consistent. We don't often get swarms like that.

I think it's a challenge to wonder what else isn't a Pokemon, yet.

Are the Pokemon that showed up in the swarm still around? I think I've seen a Klefki around, but maybe it belonged to someone who got one during the swarm.

I showed up here in time to learn that God is a llama, I don't think there's anything about this place that could surprise me anymore.

Exactly. Mutex...he is part fairy type too, isn't he? Those types are interesting, especially since they're so new.

It is odd to think that a normal, inanimate object could be a pokemon... Like... how does it work? How are they created...?

Probably yeah. There might be some Klefkis who settle into the wilds, but I don't know which area you might find them. Unless you got lucky in finding a breeder for them.

[He laughs.]

I say that's a pretty fun way of getting into this place! One moment you're here, the next you learn God is a llama.

I don't know if I want one or not, but if one followed me home I wouldn't shoo it away.

Yeah. He's steel/fairy type. I trained some steel types before, but I don't know what to expect from fairies.

[At least Poke-fairies. Demon fairies are simple enough for him: play tricks and trying to murder people.]

...Yeah, now that I really think about it, it's mainly Team Rocket who commit crimes more than "normal" people.

Hmm...I guess that means you'll have to battle against several types of Pokemon and see what happens.

[...Wow. That's really all Rideaux can think. As ridiculous as his own Klefki is, he's thankful that she hasn't pulled this crap on him yet.]

My keyring collects the keys I give to her, which are all very practical of course. I also give her some heavier keys before a battle.
