[After the prom, Atsuro used the Ace Trainer’s services to return to Goldenrod to pick a few things up from the department stores. Other than equipments and references he needs for programming, he also pick up a Dubious Disc to study. He’s been planning on taking a look into its contents, but he haven’t save up enough until now.

Not when he’s also saving up money for a possible investment into a house for himself and his Pokemon.

It’s after he take a good look into the Dubious Disc and dig in as much as he can, that he typed up a post to the network.]

Did anyone else look at what’s inside the Dubious Disc? The data inside is what cause Porygon2 to evolve into a Porygon-Z via trading. Which isn’t all that strange, since the Porygon line are made of data.

So I looked inside and I found some weird stuff. I’m wondering if anyone else can confirm it as well, or I lucked out in getting a weird copy to study.

Because I don’t know what to think about finding this inside. Or what looks like a bunch of familiar looking memes, just Pokemon (which is somehow both surprising but not really). So I’d appreciate your input on this.

Also, does anyone want a Dubious Disc? I can’t use it since Fortran’s fully evolved.

What's a government without their own cover-up or two. Especially about things that might cause a public panic. Or outrage.

Or both at the same time, with some large-scale warring to spice things up.

Fun times for everyone. More so if the government have a secret plan to deal with all of it that may or may not cause some deaths.

'May or may not'? I think you mean 'that will cause some or many'.

It's more along the line of "might not get used at all or kill everyone as a last resort".

Only as a last resort? Why the governments in your world sure are generous.

Dunno about other governments, but I know the Japanese government doesn't want to mass murder everyone.

See, that's more than I'd expect from the Federation government.
...Okay, maybe wanting to mass murder everyone on the other side doesn't count.

Right. Plus, civilians are in the general area so that would be a very tough decision for them. Enemies? Sure, their own people? Harder.

Well, I did hear rumors about warships trying to leave damaged colonies and abandon the civilians, but that was decades ago. Maybe the official policy has changed.

Maybe! Japan's policies uses a more defensive approach for wars and invasions.

[Although if things went well for him, that approach might change.]

It's nice that it can afford to be. Being on the defensive isn't always a safe option.

Right. But if you give them the right opportunity, they can change their approach.

Would it be a positive change, or a negative change?

That really depends on what they're going to do with that change. People can make it a positive change or make it very negative.

Let's all cross our fingers for positive, then.

Same. I'm trusting them to NOT mess it up too badly.

Does their track record make that likely, or are you in need of luck and a small miracle?

I have to admit I'm not at all used to governments with that attitude. It sounds refreshing.

I guess it does. They do have other things to work on, though.

Are you lucky enough for those other things to include space exploration?

Yeah! I know that there's a space program going on. JAXA I think?

...I have no idea what that it. Either it didn't happen in my world or it's ancient.
