Something I just learned very recently.

Ditto smell and taste like old gum, with a bit of wild nature from the grass. I wouldn't recommend trying to taste your own Dittos, however.

[There's a story behind this, of course.]

Just be careful while on the road.

Oooh, that would make a good name for a Ditto. So I vote for that one.

All right. Proteus it is, then.

[Now if it'll just hold still while he grabs a Pokeball - there. He presses it to the Ditto and it zips inside. The ball shakes twice, and then stills.]

[Atsuro blinks and looks over at Naoya.]

...Yeah, I'm alright now. It's not the worst I've ever experienced here.

[He's silent for a moment before chuckling.]

Yes, you. ... And while that's unfortunate, it's good that you're not hurt.

[He blinks, before he cracks a smile at that.]

Well, of course! After all the stuff I went through, being downed by a Ditto is just pathetic.

[But it does sound silly, compared to the Lockdown and the usual Halloween fiascos.]

Heh, exactly.

[He tosses the Pokeball into the air and then catches it before tucking it into his pocket.]

From what I hear, Dittos are quite useful for breeders.

You're right about that. They can be breed with almost any Pokemon, although the eggs would generally be the youngest form of the non-Ditto parent.

Still, that could be very useful... and they can transform into things, can't they? I'm certain that will be useful in battle as well.

Yeah. They can transform and use their opponent's moves. It's pretty good if they have a decent range of moves to use.

Maybe not for a single battle, but I can see it being very useful in a double battle.

[Anyway.]

We're almost to Goldenrod, aren't we?

That's right. At the pace we're going at and if the weather stay good, we should be there within a day or so.

Good. I could use a night in an actual bed. I don't mind camping so much, but not when it's this cold.

There's always flying, but I prefer it during warmer weather.

[And who knows how well Naoya can take it...]

But still, Goldenrod's worth the trip.

[Between Phantasma and Flight he's got experience being in the air, don't worry.]

Mm, true. I don't think Badb is big enough to carry me even if I were to have her learn to fly.

It'll be nice to be in a big city again, though.

She could carry you with enough prep and training. But bigger fliers are more safer to use in my experience.

[And he's pretty biased for his Golurk.]

Then you'll like Goldenrod. It got everything a big city should have, except for specialties from other cities. Plus, there's the train, so we can head over to Kanto if we want.

I'll have to look into that. I'm fine with ground travel for now, though. But Goldenrod should be nice. I can start earning money from the bakery once we get settled in.

[... He does feel a little bit bad mooching off of Atsuro.]

[He nods. Atsuro did earn and save up a fair amount of money, but he can see the slight drain whenever he do his budget.

Living by himself back home did teach him to be more responsible. So he's glad that Naoya could get a job.]

Right. I can start looking around and see what jobs are open as well.

[When he have no commissions, better get something steady and reliable in the meantime.]

I'm sure someone will need tech support, if you're up for that. There have to be technologically-inept people in any world.

I'd be up for that. It would be a nice change of pace from doing retail work in general.

Retail is important, yes, but unpleasant. There has to be some kind of repair shop around where you can help out.

It's a big and pretty modern city. I'd be surprised if there isn't one.
